1999 - 2000 TEMPORAL BONE SURGICAL DISSECTION COURSES

CME Credits: 48 Hours

The course is designed to provide intensive training for the practicing otolaryngologist, neurosurgeon, and senior resident in training, in the principles of temporal bone and skull base surgery. Special emphasis is on the common problems encountered in daily practice, and the demonstration of multiple approaches to the structures of the temporal bone and skull base currently used by the members of the House Ear Clinic, Inc.
Participants dissect temporal bones. There are lectures, chart discussions, and viewing of televised live surgery.

HIPOACUSIA AUTOINMUNE

Estudio de Investigación

La hipoacusia autoinmune es una enfermedad poco frecuente que muchas veces pasa desapercibida
quitándole al paciente la posibilidad de un tratamiento.

Entre los medicamentos disponibles se encuentran la prednisona, ciclofosfamida y el metotrexate.

El Servicio de Otorrinolaringología y Cirugía de Cabeza y Cuello del Hospital Militar Central
a través del Grupo Otológico se encuentra realizando una investigoción sobre la respuesta
de esta patología al tratamiento.

CARACTERISTICAS DEL ESTUDIO

- Prospectivo, doble ciego, controlado y multicéntrico

- Objetivo: evaluar la respuesta de está patología a medicamentos como la prednisona, ciclofosfamida y el metotrexate

CRITERIOS DE INCLUSION

- Pacientes entre 18 y 70 años de edad.

- Progresión de la hipoacusia dentro de los 90 días previos al ingreso al estudio

- Dispuesto a ingresar al estudio

- Hipoacusia neurosensorial bilateral
igual o mayor a 30 dB

- Etiología idiopática (descartando causas)

CRITERIOS DE EXCLUSION

Enfermedad sistémica y terapia inmunosupresiva

- Enfermedad maligna (quimioterapia)
- Pancreatitis, Ulcera Péptica, Enf. Renal
- Tratamiento con corticoides en los últimos
3 meses por más de treinta días

- Alcoholismo
- Diabetes mellitus insulino dependiente
- HIV, Hepatitis B o C
- Historia de tuberculosis

Otras enfermedades sistémicas como artritis reumatoidea. Granulomatosis de Wegener, Lupus, Enfermedad de graves

Enfermedades otológicas sugestivas de etiología no autoinmune

- Otitis media crónica supurativa
- Anomalías cráneo faciales
- Hipoacusia progresiva en niños

- Otoesclerosis cóclear
- Hipoacusia genética
