CONCLUSIONES

 

La adolescencia es una etapa de identificación, es un período critico en el proceso de consolidación de identidad sexual. Las experiencias homosexuales son comunes entre los adolescentes. No obstante, es preciso tener presente que no siempre las relaciones sexuales con personas del mismo sexo entre jóvenes tienen carácter transitorio. La percepción de la identidad homosexual o bisexual puede generar en el adolescente una sensación de malestar que puede inducir un episodio depresivo. La depresión es un factor de riesgo para intento o suicidio consumado en adolescentes y adultos de todas las edades. Es menester que todo profesional que trabaje en esta área, médicos generales, pediatras, psicólogos, trabajadores sociales, etc.; o esté en contacto con jóvenes deprimidos o que consume sustancias con historia de intento de suicidio, identifique síntomas que señalen malestar o disconformidad con la orientación sexual, particularmente, en el grupo masculino.
